Insomnia

June 10, 2005,

Zhang Ming, a female living in Huaihua city, 30 years old, she suffers from insomnia for two months. Every night, she could only sleep for four hours or so with dreaminess. So the mind becomes unclear everyday. Especially, this condition worsens at the noon and in the evening. The patient feels tight sense at the right temple, the left temple and the back part of the head. The local areas have burning sense. Also the head feels being wrapped by something. When the patient tries to strike the head with her own hands, this tight and wrapping sense could be relived.

The patient also complains of forgetfulness, absent-mindedness. She is also easily to be scared, for example, when hearing the sounds around her. The patient feels slight tinnitus, distending and dry eyes, black spots found in front of her eyes sometimes. The eyeballs are always distending when pressing them. Eye drops are usually used to relieve the dryness of the eyes.

The patient dose not feel dry mouth and lips. She does not like drinking too much and she prefers cold drinks. The patient complains chest oppression, palpitations, shortness of breath. If forcing herself to exhale strongly, this practice could relieve the chest oppression. The stomach is of no distention. Slight aversion to oily foods. In recent two days, the patient feels nauseating.

The bowl movement is roughly normal. The urine is slightly yellowish. Soft legs. The food intake is normal roughly, yet without good appetite.

The aching two shoulders could be relieved after being stricken . The patient does not feel back pains. No necessity to get up for urinating at night. Hot sense in the soles and palms is obvious.

Generally speaking, during these two months, the spirit is poor, dreaminess, poor sleep. The sleeping hours are only 4 hours or so instead of the past normal sleep of 7 to 8 hours a day. The patient reported that maybe the reason for current insomnia is due to overwork two mouths ago for removing her house to a new site, in which she did not sleep for whole 2 days. Insomnia happened after that.

The pulse is thready and rapid, slightly feeble, obvious feeble kidney pulse. The tip and two margins of the tongue body are red. Also slightly purplish color of the tongue is found.
