Successful TCM Treatment Case

Concussion

Xia Songxiang, a female, 42 years old.

September 14, 2005.

The patient¨s left upper abdomen was injured in a car accident. At that time, loss of consciousness occurred for one minute. After the accident, she feels pains of the left upper abdomen.

Headache. Severe dizziness and nausea. She was diagnosed with spleen contusion and cerebral concussion. She was hospitalized in our hospital. Before October 6, she received corresponding treatment of western medicine. The improvement is very limited.

October 6, 2005.

Dry eyes. No bowel movement and no black stool these recent days. Thirst but no desire to drink. Like warm water. Tinnitus. Dizziness. Wish to vomit but could not vomit things. Her weight reduced 4 kilograms during the two weeks.

Soft legs. Has walking difficulty even supported by other people. Distention of lower and mid abdomen. Slight burning sense in the lower of the gastric cavity. Distention of the left and mid abdomen and gastric cavity, as well as the distention radiating to her back. Tidal fever. She couldn¨t take food and would have abdominal distention if a little food is taken. No edema of the limbs. Distending pains on the left side of the temple. Fatigue. She stays in bed for 20 hours a day.

The right pulse is thready. Kidney pulse is feeble. Thin and red tongue body. There are macules of blood stasis under the tongue body. Whitish eyelid.

The patient reports that she could take a little food now. Obvious improvement of abdominal distention and vomiting desire. Still no bowel movement since no intake of food. The urine is a bit yellow. Red tongue body and a little of tongue coating. The pulse is thready and weak. She stays in bed for 15 hours or so each day.
